Our agency was established in the early 1980's to provide for the needs of the unemployed and underemployed members of our community.  For years, a local minister had undertaken to provide this ministry to the poor by gathering food and household items in his garage.  What he didn't have there for the support of the needy, he purchased with the donations that he solicited from the local Christian community.  After he retired, the South Adams Ministerial Association (SAMA) took over and incorporated the effort under the name PROJECT SHARE.  At the same time, another corporation was formed and named COMPASSIONATE MINISTRIES NETWORK (a.k.a. CMN). Project Share operated out of the Berne Locker, and provided food to the hungry.  CMN operated from a house near the First Mennonite Church, and provided emergency financial help to those who were about to lose their homes and/or utilities, or who had other emergency needs.

Ultimately, Project Share moved in with CMN, and the two corporations shared office space and staff, but worked under two seperate boards.  In the summer of 2009, the two organizations merged under the leadership of one Board of Directors, and began to operate from a unified budget. The organization, Compassionate Ministries Network, Inc., is subject to the laws of the State of Indiana, and is registered as a 501-c Not-for-profit corporation.  Therefore, all contributions are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.

Compassionate Ministries Network is completely dependent upon the community for the resources needed to carry out this ministry.  We are a UNITED WAY recipient, and also receive operating funds from THE LUTHERAN FOUNDATION OF NE INDIANA.  In addition, we receive support from the Christian churches of Adams County, businesses and manufacturers, and private individuals.  CMN does not accept government subsidies.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION OF GROCERIES OR FUNDS IS WELCOMED!  THANKS BE TO GOD FOR THE GENEROUS HEARTS OF HIS DISCIPLES!
